  • ADULTS INVOLVED WITH YOUNG LEADERS IN HAMPSHIRE WEST

YOUNG LEADER LEADER/COORDINATOR
• Assists in the placement of the Young Leader in a unit, where appropriate.
• Registers the Young Leader and holds registration records for all Young Leaders in her area.
• Supports the Young Leader and helps her work through the schemes and Look Wider as she chooses. Helps her to keep a record of her progress.
• Acts as Mentor for Young Leaders working on the Leadership Qualifications.
• Organises meetings and/or communications for the Young Leader group.
• Passes on information about the programme and events to Young Leaders.
• Visits Young Leaders in their units.
• Supports the Unit Leader in her role with the Young Leader.
• Acts as a link between all the Leaders involved with the Young Leader.
• Attends county Young Leader Leader/Coordinator meetings.
• Advises the District Commissioner when a Young Leader reaches age 16 yrs and needs a CRB check to be completed.
• Arranges for the Young Leader to make or renew her Promise, when she is ready.
  UNIT LEADER
• Supports the Young Leader and offers opportunities to complete clauses from the schemes and Look Wider.
• Involves the Young Leader in the running of the unit, particularly in planning the programme.
• Makes Guiding magazine and other relevant publications available to the Young Leader.
• Encourages the Young Leader to attend meetings with her group and other events for Young Leaders.
• Encourages Young Leaders to attend District meetings and passes on relevant information from District meetings to Young Leaders who do not attend themselves.
• Liaises with the Young Leader Leader/Coordinator and the District Commissioner, where appropriate.
• Has an awareness of the scheme(s) on which the Young Leader is working.
• Does not leave the Young Leader in sole charge of the unit or girls at any time.



RANGER / SENIOR SECTION LEADER
• Provides additional support to Young Leaders who are also Rangers.
  ADVISERS (at County and Division levels)
• Are available to offer expert advice on specialist areas, e.g. outdoor activities, international, disabilities.

DISTRICT COMMISSIONER
• Places the Young Leader in a suitable unit, in consultation with the Young Leader Leader/Coordinator.
• Works with the Young Leader Leader/Coordinator to help and support the Young Leader.
• Arranges a CRB check for all 16 yr olds. Ensures that the Young Leader is correctly entered on GO.
• Has an initial meeting with a Young Leader wishing to start the Adult Leadership Qualification and ensures that she receives the 'Pink Sheets' and has access to a mentor - usually the Young Leader Leader/Coordinator.
• Welcomes Young Leaders working on the Leadership Qualification to District meetings.
• Interviews the Young Leader on completion of her Young Leader Qualification.
• Appoints District Young Leader Leader/coordinator (where appropriate - more usually this appointment is at Division level only) and welcomes her to District meetings.
• Has an initial meeting with a District Young Leader Leader who needs to complete Module 1 of the Leadership Qualification for the Senior Section. Sends relevant information to county Leadership Co-ordinator.
 
DIVISION COMMISSIONER
• Appoints Division Young Leader Leader/Coordinator and welcomes her to Division meetings.
• Has an initial meeting with a Division Young Leader Leader who needs to complete Module 1 of the Leadership Qualification for the Senior Section. Sends relevant information to County Leadership Co-ordinator.
• Keeps Division Young Leader Leader informed of events for herself and Young Leaders.
COUNTY YOUNG LEADER ADVISER
• Supports Young Leader Leaders/Coordinators
• Acts as a Mentor for Young Leader Leaders needing to complete Module 1 of the Leadership Qualification.
• Holds meetings for Young Leader Leaders/Coordinators, as agreed.
• Co-ordinates trainings and events for Young Leader Leaders and Young Leaders at county level.
• Attends Region and County meetings and passes information to and from Young Leader Guiders, as appropriate.
• Works with other Senior Section Advisers to co-ordinate the programme and events for the Senior Section within the county.
• Provides input to the Senior Section Newsletter, the County Newsletter and the County Report, as appropriate.
