Strand 1: People
To grow the Membership
The desired outcome is a growth both in numbers of adults and in numbers of girls. This includes growing the number of new members and retaining existing members longer.

1:1 Focus on increasing girl membership

Ensure that every girl who wants to join Guiding in Hampshire West is able to do so.

Establish guiding in new communities.
Carry out a detailed analysis of census data and use this information to target recruitment activities. County Commissioner

Strand 2: Training
Good quality training experiences to County members.
The desired outcome is to establish a culture where volunteers have the skills and on –going support to deliver consistently good guiding experiences for the girls and young women.

2:1 Focus on Training opportunities being offered to adult volunteers across the county.

Provide a varied programme of trainings as a result of the consultation. On-going
Ensure that new leaders and commissioners receive the training and support needed to carry out their role.
Encourage and develop on-going support and training for leaders at district & division level.
2. Increase the number of adults involved in delivering training within the county Devise ways of encouraging leaders to undertake GGUK’s adult training qualification. County Commissioner and Adult Support Team On- going To enable all leaders to have access to quality trainings.

2:2 Focus Developing better ways of finding out what experiences girls and young women want.

Strand 3: Doing things Differently
To promote a flexible approach throughout the organisation
The desired outcome is leaders committed to a flexible approach to the way guiding is offered.

3:1 Focus on a flexible approach

Strand 4: Systems

The desired outcome is to provide effective administrative and communication systems.

4:1 Focus on Project Streamline

Support for divisions and districts Provide support for commissioners and key users for:
 The introduction of the streamline procedures for membership administration
 The administration of the Go database

4:2 Focus on Communication

Strand 5: Perception
To challenge public perception about Guiding in the 21st Century.
The desired outcome is to have developed ways to successfully challenge public perception and positively update stereotypically views of guiding.

5:1 Focus on developing the county’s PR Strategy
What do we want to do? How are we going to achieve it? Who is responsible? By when? Anticipated outcomes

5:2 Focus on the Project Perception messages

Strand 6: 2010 and beyond
The desired outcome is to present guiding as a modern, relevant and dynamic organisation able to serve the needs of girls and young women in the future as well as celebrating the contribution of our rich and varied heritage.

6:1 Focus on celebrating the centenary
What do we want to do? How are we going to achieve it? Who is responsible? By when? Anticipated outcomes
Provide a series of extra special celebration activities and events. Support the centenary team in coordinating, organising and promoting centenary events.
Provide additional funding through the county budget and fund raising events.
