  • In March 2007 the County introduced its first County Plan (County Plan Girlguiding Hampshire West Final.pdf) to provide clear direction for the work of the County and to make sure that the opportunities we offer remain relevant to today's girls. It is important, however, that the plan is reviewed from time to time so we can identify our successes and make sure that we are taking the right actions to achieve our objectives.
  • During the past two years commissioners, advisers and unit leaders have provided feedback on the progress in delivering the objectives outlined in the plan. As a County we can be proud of what we have already achieved. New units have been opened and flexible innovative ways have been devised to meet local needs. A new website has been launched, the calendar of county events improved and more opportunities have been created to promote Guiding in the wider community.
  • The review process shows that there is still much we can do. We need to find better ways of developing team work at all levels and supporting leaders so that good quality guiding can be consistently experienced by every girl.
  • The revised County Plan is being presented in a different format but its overall purpose remains the same. It continues to use the framework of Girlguiding UK's plan and refers directly to the priorities identified in the Region's plan. It is vital that we are all moving forward in the same direction if Guiding is to continue to thrive in the 21st Century.
  • The County Executive is responsible for providing the direction for the development of the County but for the plan to work everyone needs to be involved. I hope that each district, division and adviser team will read the plan together and decide how they can contribute to developing Guiding in Hampshire West.
  • Finally, our centenary year will provide so many opportunities to move forward in achieving our objectives. Whatever contribution you choose to make it will make a difference to the quality of the Guiding experience offered to the girls.
